Although this planthopper species is very common, there were no observations recorded on iNaturalist as of 27 March 2025. The community on the platform seems to favour identifying it at the genus level (Ricanula sp.), with 831 observations from Singapore. There exists a similar-looking planthopper named Ricanula pulverosa, however, none of these observations originate from Singapore. I have decided to retain the name Ricanula stigmatica for now.
